She started her career in the banking industry, working in New York and Jakarta before moving to various senior leadership roles in a company appointed as the sole distributor of Hitachi, Ltd. Japan.
Prior to joining RMIT, she served as Director, International Marketing and Communication at University Pelita Harapan (UPH), Jakarta.
Tell us about your job, and what do you like most about it.
At the Foundation Studies in Jakarta, we represent RMIT in Foundation Studies and Higher Ed. programs. We consult high school students on a daily basis. It's exciting when they decide to join foundation studies. It's personally very rewarding contributing to that decision-making process knowing so well they have made the first step to pursuing their careers.
Where do these students come from?
At the moment, a majority of these students come from Jakarta. However, we do have a few from other parts of Indonesia.
What are these students usually enrolled in?
It's amazing. These students choose to do a mixture of all kinds of studies and programs. We noticed Business, Engineering, Design, Psychology and msot recently, International Relations as fairly popular fields.
You say you really enjoy working with students. What is your biggest frustration?
My biggest frustration is perhaps my biggest challenge. Because we are working independently as Foundation Studies, we are limited. We cannot do school visits or host road-shows like most universities. We're seen as competitors to schools.
Over time, we hope to work closer together with undergraduate recuriters and programs to explore further opportunities. We want to build on the idea of a pathway recruitment right through to Bachelor and Master's degrees.
