We all know this feeling - just as an email is sent, you realize you've made a huge error. This could be a 'typo', an obvious spelling error or just one of those silly grammar mistakes I'm always guilty of. Maybe you've sent a note to the wrong person. Maybe you just regret sending the email itself!

That feeling of regret is instant, as if there's no coming back from this one.

While Google hasn't yet provided a time machine, it offers a grateful layer of forgiveness to these situations. Currently limited to web mail users only, the Gmail 'Undo Send' feature is an experimental tool by Google.

Here's how to enable it.

1. Launch your favourite web browser and head log on to Gmail.

2. Find the little gear icon on the upper right-hand corner, and then click 'Settings'

3. At the 'Search for a Lab' bar, type 'Undo Send'

4. Click ENABLE for 'Undo Send' then, click 'Save Changes' at the bottom of the page

5. You're almost there - Now Select the 'General' Tab

6. Locate the new 'Undo Send' option in the page and adjust your 'Undo Send' period to your choice (5, 10, 20 or 30 seconds)

7. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select 'Save Changes'

Now that 'Undo Send' has been enabled, you can test it out or just trust that it's there. To use the feature, simply send any email then look at the top of the Gmail window after a message is sent.

At the top of the page, you should be able to find an 'Undo' option next to "Your message was sent" in the yellow box.
